The TCS Together We Smile team is on its fourth mission, nearing completion. They have arrived at San Andres, a picturesque coral island located in the Caribbean Sea, which falls under the political jurisdiction of Colombia and has historical ties to the United Kingdom. Recognizing the island’s ecological significance, it was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve called the “Safflower Biosphere Reserve” to ensure the preservation of its delicate ecosystem.

Unfortunately, San Andres faced severe devastation after Hurricane Iota in 2020. Nearly 98% of the island’s infrastructure, including vital facilities such as water and sanitation systems and health and education institutions, was damaged. The local population struggled with a high poverty rate and was further burdened by limited access to oral care support.

The TCS Together We Smile team has proactively responded to this pressing need. They have made necessary preparations at a nearby clinic called Credident, ensuring all required materials are available. The team’s primary objective is to create dentures and partials for over 100 low-income individuals who desperately need such dental prosthetics. By addressing this oral health issue, the team hopes to alleviate the discomfort and improve the quality of life for these needy individuals.

Through their tireless efforts, the TCS Together We Smile team aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the local population in San Andres. By providing essential dental services and support, they strive to restore smiles, boost confidence, and contribute to the well-being of those adversely affected by natural disasters and existing socio-economic challenges.

The success of the Together We Smile outreach program is owed to the strong collaborative efforts between various stakeholders.
