Back to Her Roots

After devoting 14 years to the dental industry Marilin Luchetti founded Thermoplastic Comfort Systems, Inc. in Signal Hill, California, with the support and guidance of her father, inventor, Jorge Posca.

Coming from a family of dental technicians, manufacturers, designers, and dentists, Marilin understood the level of trust, respect, and innovation TCS needed to offer its customers in order to succeed.

TCS opened its doors in 2000 with the introduction of Unbreakable™ by TCS, a nylon-based thermoplastic resin, along with comprehensive courses taught by master techniciansUnbreakable™ quickly gained popularity for being resilient, flexible, and aesthetic, offering patients a seamless fit in the mouth.

Going Global

The increased popularity of Unbreakable™ by TCS strengthened TCS’ image as a brand dental laboratories could rely on for quality and exemplary customer service. TCS’ growing customer following inspired them to expand their product offering in 2002 by manufacturing equipment specifically designed to inject Unbreakable™ resins. With the help of Jorge Posca, TCS focused on manufacturing units (in-house) designed with the functionality and simplicity laboratory technicians needed.

Increased demand for TCS to earn its CE Mark to sell overseas grew as word spread about Unbreakable™ by TCS and the TCS injection units.  In 2005, Unbreakable™ by TCS obtained its CE Mark, and by 2006 TCS became available in international markets.

After TCS obtained its CE mark, TCS launched the TCS Hydraulic Injector in 2007. The Hydraulic Injector, another successful design by Jorge Posca, was admired by customers for not requiring air connection like standard injection units on the market.

Happy Fresh Smiles For All

In 2002 TCS began offering the TCS Concentrated Dental Appliance Cleaner, a cleaner originally created specifically for removable thermoplastic appliances made with TCS resins. Over the years, as the number of removable thermoplastic partials prescribed increased, TCS saw the opportunity to launch TCS Fresh – a TCS Brand. TCS Fresh’s launch allowed the team to market cleaners for all types of removable appliances.

Fresh ia brand dedicated to promoting healthy dental health habits by providing professionalgrade tools and appliance cleansers for all types of removable appliances. Under the Fresh brand, the TCS Concentrated Dental Appliance Cleaner soon became the “go-to” cleanser for patients with all kinds of removable appliances.

Product Line Expansion

2012 was the start of 4-year product expansion beginning with the TCS 2Gallon Duplicating Unita redesign of the original 2- Gallon Duplicating Unit invented by Jorge Posca in the 70s. The original and the revamped TCS 2Gallon Duplicating Unit was the first of its kind, with no water connections required and a double boilout tank to help prolong the life of hydrocolloid paste.

In 2013 TCS launched iFlex™, a highly translucent polyolefin thermoplastic, as a second option for dental laboratories to offer dentists.  In addition to iFlex™ being a great solution for patients, dental technicians appreciated how simple iFlex was to finish and polish.

JP90 Handheld Injector

At the age of 90, Jorge Posca invented the JP90 Handheld Injector and JP Flask. The JP90 saved technicians time and money by eliminating the need to flask small cases and repairs using traditional methods.

Jorge Posca saw the JP90 to fruition before his passing in 2016. TCS proudly named the JP90 after him, commemorating the lasting impact he had on the success and identity of the company.

A Re-Fresh

At the end of 2016, TCS decided to refresh the company’s image to reflect the organization’s foundation as well as its commitment to continuous improvement

The company’s new image served as the perfect introduction to Karadent™, a semi-rigid, microcrystalline polymer thermoplastic. Karadent™ made its debut in the market as an upgrade from traditional acrylic dentures. Unlike anything on the market, Karadent™ offers monomer free solutions for full dentures and cases that require semi-rigid materials.

The introduction of Karadent™ and the rebranding of TCS also inspired the team to modernize the appearance of the TCS injection units and all their product packaging to accompany its new look. By the end of 2017, TCS had fully rebranded its entire company.
